./ Basic Brush Setting

or if you lazy to set it up you can download the used brush below xD

 ./ Breakdown

For workspace i usually use size 8000x8000 300dpi RGB on Photoshop.
Then, i make the lineart first on the Adobe Illustrator. I like to make it on AI cuz the lineart will be more easy to draw with custom vector brush. After the lineart done, copy-paste it from AI workspace to PS workspace.

In Photoshop, first fill the line art with base color. Better fill the base color in the layer below the lineart to make easy the future process.

For the coloring process, I use 3-4 color for skin tone.
Add clipping mask to the base color layer, then add the 1st layer shadow. In the 1st shadow I usually use solid brush with brush opacity 40-55% & brush flow 50%.

For the 2nd layer shadow, I use soft brush with brush hardness around 75%, brush opacity 30-40% & brush flow 40%.

And for the 3rd layer shadow, I use soft brush with brush hardness around 85%, brush opacity 50-60% & brush flow 45%.  The goal of 3rd layer shadow is to add some detail like shadow and highlight to make the color blending as well.

After you feel the colors hv been blending as well, merge the base color layer with 1-3 shadow layer by simply select the layers and press Ctrl + E. After that pull up the highlight of the color by using Levels / Ctrl + L. You can adjust the shadow and highlight composition as you feelin right.

The next step, I draw the base shape for the hole in the face. And fill it with Radial Gradient (darker color on the side and lighter on the mid). After that add Inner Shadow in Layer Style, then adjust the angle of the shadow, opacity, and size as you want. Below is my Inner Shadow setting.

For the hair part, I usually colored it in the different layer with the skin layer. The coloring process is same as coloring the skin.

Merge the skin layer, the face hole layer, and hair layer. Then pull up the Hue/Saturation to make the color more natural / organic.

I set up the Level too, to make the whole main image color character become more bold.

And it's time to add some details, like some hole for the plant and add some plants in the face and around the hand & foot.

The next detail, I added some moss in the shoulder and some body part by using 2 colors with anime leaf brush (you can find the brush on the deviantart).

Then duplicate the whole image to make backup by using Ctrl + J. After that, add some liquify effect in the duplicated layer. Filter > Liquify or press Shift+Ctrl+X.

The last step are adding background color with some gloomy color scheme. Add some cloud and stars effect to to the sky. Don't forget to add some ornaments too :p

And before export the image, I like to add some noise to the whole image. Filter > Noise > Add Noise > Gaussian, Monochromatic, Amount 4%. And it's done !
