Never Say Die Records Artwork Tutorial

Yo, im WICH. In this first post im gonna give you tutorial how to make artwork like some of Never Say Die Records cover album release.

 ./ Tutorial

For workspace i usually use size 4000x4000 300dpi RGB on Photoshop.
Then, find some blackboard texture or dark subtle texture for the background.

Adjust the darkness level of the texture use Levels / Ctrl + L.

For the main image, find your favorite old statue / skulls / or some iconic object.
After that, mask the main image.

Remove the background by hit delete button.

Add layer mask to the main image, then tear up your main image with some splatter brush.

Paint some splatter brush behind the main image with 2-4 colors, I use brush setting Opacity 85% and Flow 85% to make the colors blending.

Add the clipping mask to the first splatter brush background to make it more interesting.

Make new layer, name it "Halftone". Put it above the main image layer and fill it with white color.  Then apply Filter > Filter Gallery > Halftone Pattern > adjust the size and contrast

Group the main image layer with the splatter brush layer. And then right click on the Halftone layer, change the layer blend to Overlay with opacity around 75%.

For the final touch, you can add layer mask on the Halftone layer and add some Mandala vector behind the splatter brush layer to make it better look. And bring up the saturation of the main image / the whole image.

If you get confused with my explanation about layer arrangement. Here's my layer snap.
